"We wouldn't ordain John Murray..."
That one quote from an ordained PCA pastor (trained at Westminster Seminary, California) on my unofficial "pre-examination" committee (or "kangaroo court" as I affectionately refer to it) is what led me to resign from the PCA church I was serving as a "called intern" and abandon any hope of ordination or future service in the PCA.
I won't reconstruct the whole complex narrative or name names. It is an interesting story worth telling, but not important right now. What's important is to understand what is at stake right now in the PCA and other parts of Reformedom. The sheer insanity of the anti-FV camp will practically lead to the banishment and derision of men like John Murray. Now of course, I'm no John Murray and would never pretend to be. But there are men today who could be of this caliber - and we know there will be men of this stature to come. Will the PCA, OPC, and other Reformed institutions draw the lines of Reformed orthodoxy so tight that men like John Murray can't serve? Will convictions similar to Murray's be outlawed?
That's were this thing is headed if the anti-FV'ers have their way. I guess it would be their loss, but it is hard to watch people be so self-destructive.
I'm glad you're posting again!
