I have been a hack grill-chef wannabe for a long time. I have scorched burgers, under-cooked chicken, and messed-up my fair share of tri-tip - that is, until now...
Two key birthday presents have transformed me into a grill master:
- "Weber's Real Grilling" book. This is a must have for all you grilling wannabes who don't know what you're doing. I know it is a macho thing to pretend you know what you're doing without a book, but humble yourself, man. This book rocks - and is teaching me the basics that I have lacked for so many years.
- "Reveo Marivac Food Tumbler." You put your meat and marinade in a container that then hooks up to a motorized vacuum pump. It opens up the pores in the meat to allow the marinade to penetrate and then it gently tumbles it for 20 minutes. Within 30 minutes the meat is more flavorful and tender than anything I have ever tasted. This thing rocks - go to www.freethemeat.org to check it out. It is a little pricey, but worth EVERY penny! Believe me!
And that is why I AM a grilling enthusiast!
